Ghost Cookies: Easy & Funny Halloween Treat for Kids

Halloween Treats: Easy and Fun Ghost Cookies
Halloween has quietly made its way into our kitchens without us even realizing it. Each year, children eagerly await their costumes, pumpkins, and of course, homemade candy. These Halloween ghost cookies are a simple and enjoyable way to spend time with them. The dough can be a homemade shortcrust pastry base, which can be prepared in just a few minutes, or a pre-cooked dough to save time. It is easily cut and decorated with a little powdered sugar, giving it its "scary" touch. For the eyes and mouth, we only need a little raspberry jam. A recipe with just three ingredients, simple and fun, perfect to prepare at home, share with the family, and sweeten the scariest night of the year.
Ingredients
- 1 shortcrust pastry roll
- 4 tablespoons of raspberry jam
- 50 g powdered sugar (+/-)
Materials
- Heart-shaped pastry cutter (optional)
- Smooth pastry nozzle or a straw
- Pastry bag (optional)
- Strainer (optional)
Preparation
Step 1:

Roll out the dough between two sheets of baking paper until thin. Cut out hearts with a pastry cutter (you can chill it for a few seconds in the freezer) and place the pieces on a lined tray.
Step 2:

Chill the dough for 10 minutes in the freezer. Remove excess and cut each heart in half to form the ghosts.
Step 3:

Make the eyes and mouth on half of the pieces with a nozzle or straw: use the narrow part for the eyes and the wide part for the mouth. Tilt the bottom end slightly to draw the ghost's "tail".
Step 4:

Bake at 350°F/180°C, heat up and down, for about 10 minutes. If you want them to keep their shape, cover them with baking paper and another tray as a light weight.
Step 5:

Let cool on a wire rack. Fill the base of the cookies with a little jam and sprinkle the tops with powdered sugar using a sieve to make it more uniform.
Step 6:

Put the pieces together like a sandwich: place one piece sprinkled on top of another with jam and press gently.
Step 7:

Now you can enjoy these fun and easy ghost cookies, perfect to prepare with the family and give a sweet touch to Halloween night.
