Family Matters Star Shows Fatigue in Mug Shot

Darius McCrary's Recent Legal Troubles

Darius McCrary, best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the classic TV show "Family Matters," has recently found himself in legal trouble. The 49-year-old actor was seen in a mug shot that was shared by the Oakland County Jail on Thursday. In the image, McCrary appeared exhausted, which raised concerns about his current situation.

According to authorities, McCrary was attempting to enter Mexico from the United States when he was arrested. His initial court appearance in mid-October in Southern California saw his request for bail denied. He is currently being held in a San Diego-area jail after being taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents on October 5.

A judge ruled that McCrary remains a flight risk in the ongoing case, which involves a felony warrant issued in Michigan. This warrant stems from a missed court date related to unpaid child support. Despite initially stating that he wanted to represent himself without the help of a court-appointed lawyer, the judge appointed a public defender to assist him.

McCrary's legal troubles are not new. He has had previous issues tied to his contentious divorce from his ex-wife, Tammy Brawner. The couple filed for divorce in 2017 and finalized it in 2019. During this time, the court ordered McCrary to pay $1,366 monthly in child support. Brawner, an actress and producer who once played for the Harlem Globetrotters, was granted full legal and physical custody of their daughter, Zoe, who was three at the time of the ruling.

The court also mandated that McCrary attend programs for alcohol and drug abuse, as well as batterers' intervention, over the next year. He was given supervised visitation with his daughter for six hours every Sunday for the first 10 visits, with the conditions to be re-evaluated by the court afterward.

There have been conflicting accounts regarding why McCrary was in the area in the first place. Prosecutors stated that his agent claimed he was in Tijuana to scout real estate, while the public defender suggested he was working on a charitable endeavor involving house construction.

A representative for McCrary told People that he should not be considered a flight risk because he doesn't have any connections to the Tijuana area. According to the rep, McCrary accidentally ended up in another country due to a mix-up about where to meet his partner for the Esperanza program, a charity focused on building houses.

McCrary plans to fight the case in Michigan, where he is scheduled to appear in court on November 14. His recent arrest has sparked questions about whether he is facing yet another legal issue over alleged child support evasion. Some have even wondered if he fears ending up like Phil Hartman amid his current predicament.

As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely to see how this will affect McCrary's future and whether he can resolve these legal challenges.
