Jason Dy's Sinatra Dream on Your Face Sounds Familiar

A Journey of Growth and Performance

Jason Dy's journey in the spotlight began a decade ago when he captured the hearts of many through his victory in "The Voice Philippines Season 2." His powerful voice and emotional delivery quickly made him a household name. But over the years, he has proven that he is much more than just a balladeer. Jason has evolved into a versatile performer who can sing, dance, and act, showcasing his talents in every round of "Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 4."

Two weeks into the competition, Jason has already claimed the coveted "Weekly Winner" title after an impressive performance of "Dancing with a Stranger," where he transformed into Sam Smith. This transformation was even approved by the award-winning English singer-songwriter himself.

Before moving on to his next iconic challenge—Frank Sinatra—Jason shared insights about his experience on the show and answered some fun questions related to his journey.

The Road to "Your Face Sounds Familiar"

According to Jason, his journey with the talent competition started when he received an invitation to audition. As a self-confessed fan of the show, he didn't hesitate to accept the opportunity. He expressed gratitude to the production team for including him in the cast.

"I've always wanted to be part of the show because I'm a fan. Even from the first season, I was a fan and hoped that one day I'd be part of it. Thankfully, it manifested," he said excitedly.

He recounted how the production team asked him to choose a couple of artists he could impersonate. He went with his favorites, Erik Santos and Stevie Wonder. Speaking about Erik, Jason mentioned that he has always enjoyed mimicking him as a way to tease his friend. However, he emphasized that this was done out of love and respect since he's a huge fan of Erik's music.

Preparing for the Stage

In preparation for his role on the show, Jason admitted that he had been working on his fitness long before joining "Your Face Sounds Familiar." He started exercising early this year by going to the gym and hiring a personal trainer, which he combined with a healthier diet. He maintained this routine to ensure he had enough energy for each performance.

As a singer, Jason believes his musical background gives him an edge in the competition. He explained that he learned to sing by imitating others, starting with radio and music videos. This experience helped him develop his skills, but he also found the challenge of returning to his roots in the show to be exciting.

Lessons Learned

Over the past ten years in showbiz and two weeks on the program, Jason has taken away important lessons about dedication and commitment. He emphasized the importance of giving 110% in every task, especially in a show that involves multiple elements.

"The challenge here is to go back to mimicking and impersonating. It's like going back to my roots," he said.

Upcoming Challenges

When asked about his reaction to being assigned Frank Sinatra as his next icon, Jason expressed both excitement and pressure. He acknowledged that Sinatra is a music legend with a distinct voice, making the challenge difficult but thrilling.

Regarding future icons, Jason hopes to perform as Stevie Wonder or rap legends like Drake and Kendrick Lamar. For added fun, he is open to taking on female rappers like Cardi B or Nicki Minaj.

Support and Future Performances

Jason also shared his thoughts on which of his fellow performers could do a great job impersonating him. He mentioned Jarlo Base and Pepe, expressing curiosity about their abilities in different genres.

He thanked his fans and supporters for their continued encouragement and urged them to watch the rest of the season. "There are so many amazing performances and icons to look forward to. You won’t regret watching and supporting the show."
