Shrek Cake Sparks Outrage Among Channel 4 Fans

A Hilarious Moment on The Great British Bake Off

Fans of The Great British Bake Off were left in stitches after a contestant's melted cake looked like a "puddle." The episode last night featured Toby, Aaron, Tom, and Jasmine competing for a spot in the final as temperatures rose inside the iconic tent.

The competition was tough, especially after a "ridiculously hard" technical challenge during Patisserie Week. The challenge, set by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, saw Toby sent home due to his "embarrassing" attempt at making a framboisier cake.

Social media was abuzz with reactions, with fans calling the technical challenge a "car crash." One user, @lisa7514, wrote: “Poor Toby ... it looks like a pond 😂😂 #GBBO.” Another, @xo_xoncejnl, joked: “Toby’s cake looks like Shrek has thrown up on his plate #bakeoff.”

Meanwhile, @cosmicsubject expressed their frustration, saying: “That technical was an embarrassment !! #GBBO.” Despite Toby's disastrous technical, which the judges admitted still tasted nice, the competition remained tight between him and Aaron and Tom.

Jasmine, however, secured a record-equalling fifth star baker as she moved on to the final. Fans on X shared their thoughts, with many feeling Toby was "robbed" after his impressive lemon macaron showstopper.

@kevwgs commented: “The nation’s favourite. Very unlucky Toby. You’ve been brilliant to watch. #GBBO.” Another user, @finucy, added: “That was the most emotional exit on #GBBO I’ve ever watched. Really liked Toby – think he was a little more deserving of being in the final than Aaron or Tom.”

@smallstepforsam wrote: “WHAT!! I was so convinced Toby had redeemed himself #GBBO #BakeOff.” After his exit, an emotional Toby said: “I made it a tough decision for them they said so that is good. The best thing about this tent is the other people.”

Prue and Paul also mentioned that it was the “toughest decision” they have had to make all series so far. Alongside making a framboisier cake, the semi-finalists created cream horns, glass domes, and macarons for their showstoppers.

The Great British Bake Off final will air next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
