A Lasting Farewell Through Dance
At the wake of the late choreographer Anna Feliciano, held at the Loyola Memorial Chapel Commonwealth, a heartfelt celebration of her life took place through the art of dance. Her daughter-in-law, April Feliciano, shared a glimpse of this special moment on her Facebook account, capturing the essence of what was described as "the last dance" for the beloved choreographer.
Anna passed away on October 23 at the age of 65 due to a reported heart attack. She would have turned 66 on November 7, marking another year in her journey that she will no longer be able to experience.
The event featured performances from various dancers who had worked with Anna throughout her career. These artists honored her memory by celebrating her lifelong passion for dance. Among them was celebrity dancer and actress Jopay Paguia-Zamora, who performed one final time for Anna, paying tribute to her legacy.
The five-minute performance included a variety of choreographies, ranging from hip hop to ballroom, showcasing the versatility and creativity that Anna brought to the stage. April Feliciano captioned the video with the words, “Huling sayaw para sa’yo, Ma,” which translates to “Last dance for you, Mom.”
The family expressed their gratitude to everyone who attended the event, including notable celebrities such as Regine Tolentino, It’s Showtime hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario, Mariel Rodriguez, and Robin Padilla, among many others.
In addition to the live performance, the Retro Sibs—Mia Dina, Dindo, and Deo Divinagracia—paid tribute to Anna through a dance video on TikTok. The video quickly gained thousands of likes and views, demonstrating the widespread impact Anna had on the dance community.
Anna's ex-husband, Mel Feliciano, also shared his farewell message on his Facebook account. He wrote:
“Paalam ANNA gusto ko malaman mo at sinabi ko sayo na salamat ng nagkahiwalay tayo marami akong natutunan bilang isang AMA. Salamat sa pag alaga kay Rupert tama man o mali ang paghihiwalay natin PATAWAD,” he wrote.
“Ang lahat ng ito ay plano ni lord mula unang araw hanggang last day nandon ako di ako nagpost ng kahit ano gusto ko MOMENT MO YON at salamat sa mga dancers nag effort para sumayaw sa wake mo MULA SA PAMILYA KO AT SA PAMILYA MO LUBOS AKONG NAKIKIRAMAY we’ll pray for your soul,” he ended.
Anna was known for creating several iconic dance numbers behind popular noontime shows. Her decades-long career in the industry earned her respect from numerous artists, all of whom admired her dedication and passion for the craft.
