Happy Baa-loween! Snuggled Lambs Around Pumpkins at Swansea Farm
Halloween Comes to the Farm
Halloween is just around the corner, and it's time for trick-or-treaters to get ready for a night filled with sweets, pranks, and fancy dress. But this year, the spooky season has taken an unexpected turn on Will's Petting Farm in the Gower, where spring lambs, baby bunnies, and piglets are also getting into the spirit of the holiday.
The animals are set to celebrate Halloween on Friday, offering a unique experience for visitors who prefer a more wholesome alternative to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. The farm, run by 18-year-old Will, features adorable animals nestled among colorful pumpkins, creating a magical setting for families.
In addition to feeding the animals, guests can explore the pumpkin patch, which is part of a broader trend transforming autumn farms into gourd wonderlands. Fields are now bursting with vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and green, making them look like scenes from a movie.
However, not all pumpkin patches have had the same luck. This autumn has been marked by the hottest summer on record, with four consecutive heatwaves causing the pumpkin crop to ripen weeks earlier than usual. Many farmers found themselves in a difficult situation, as heavy rains since August have led to rotting pumpkins, turning some fields into what could be described as "fields of screams."

Despite these challenges, some pumpkin patches are still thriving. One such place is Cammas Hall Farm in Essex, which has been open for visitors to pick their own pumpkins since 1966. The farm boasts an impressive collection of 50 different pumpkin varieties, making it a popular destination for those looking for a unique Halloween experience.
The farm also offers spooky tunnels to explore and opportunities to interact with Halloween characters. What sets Cammas Hall apart is the world's only giant erupting 'Pumpcano,' a towering stack of pumpkins that shoots flames from the top. This attraction has drawn attention from celebrities like Alex Murphy Klein, who has appeared on Dancing On Ice twice. She described the farm as "the best place to pick pumpkins in all the UK."
Questions Surrounding This Year’s Pumpkin Patches
As the Halloween season approaches, several questions remain about the state of pumpkin patches across Britain:
- Why are Tulleys Farm's homegrown, world-famous pumpkins considered the most authentic Halloween experience in the UK?
- What has caused pumpkin patches to face a "field of screams" this year?
- Is Cammas Hall Farm the ultimate pumpkin paradise with its 50 varieties and fiery 'Pumpcano' spectacle?
- Why are thousands of people traveling to Worcestershire to see a massive pumpkin that might be transformed by a secretive, skilled carver?
- Are slugs and soggy weather working together to ruin Britain's Halloween pumpkin plans?
These questions highlight the challenges and excitement surrounding this year's Halloween celebrations, as farmers and visitors alike prepare for a season filled with pumpkins, spooks, and surprises.
