Liza Soberano Lands Lead Voice Role in DreamWorks' 'Forgotten Island'

Liza Soberano Joins DreamWorks’ Animated Film “Forgotten Island” as Lead Voice Cast

Liza Soberano has expressed her excitement and gratitude after being announced as one of the lead voice cast members in DreamWorks' upcoming animated film, Forgotten Island. The news came as a surprise to the actress, who shared her disbelief and joy on her Instagram Stories. She wrote: “I can't believe I get to be part of something as special as Forgotten Island!!”

In addition to her excitement, Liza took the time to thank the studio and the film’s directors for giving her this incredible opportunity. She said: “Thank you @dreamworks @joel.crawford.art @jmercado for making my dreams come true.”

Liza will be joining an impressive lineup of actors, including H.E.R., Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, Dave Franco, and Jenny Slate, who will also be part of the film’s lead voice cast.

A Magical Journey of Friendship and Sacrifice

Forgotten Island tells the story of lifelong best friends Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza), who become stranded on the magical, long-forgotten island of Nakali. The only path home may mean giving up their most treasured memories.

The film is written and co-directed by Filipino-American filmmaker Januel Mercado, alongside Joel Crawford. Universal Pictures is set to release the movie in theaters on September 25, 2026.

This film marks a significant milestone for Januel, as it will be the first where he receives full directing credit. He previously co-directed the critically acclaimed Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which was also produced by DreamWorks.

Liza’s Growing Career in Hollywood

Liza has been steadily building her career in both local and international projects. In 2020, she lent her voice to the Filipino-dubbed version of the Netflix animated series Trese. This experience helped her gain more exposure in the voice acting industry.

Her Hollywood debut came in 2024 with the film Lisa Frankenstein, where she played Taffy, a cheerleader and the half-sister of Lisa (portrayed by Kathryn Newton). Her performance in the film received positive feedback from audiences and critics alike.

During an interview with Yong Chavez of News at the film's premiere in February 2024 in the US, Liza shared how overwhelmed she felt about the response to her role. She said: “Sobrang na-overwhelm po ako kasi hindi ko in-expect na maraming, I don’t know, makakapansin kagad sa akin. I play a supporting character, obviously, in Lisa Frankenstein and it’s just so overwhelming to hear that people really love my character and they really love the comedic timing that I bring to the story and everything.”

Looking Ahead

With her growing presence in Hollywood and her latest role in Forgotten Island, Liza Soberano continues to make waves in the entertainment industry. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the film, which promises to be a unique blend of adventure, friendship, and emotional storytelling.

As Liza prepares for this new chapter in her career, she remains grateful for the opportunities that have come her way and is excited to see where her journey takes her next.
