Top 2025 Halloween Costume Inspired by Real-Life Event

The Rise of the Louvre Robber Costume

As Halloween approaches, internet users are moving away from traditional white sheets and opting for a more daring look. Instead of drawing inspiration from characters like Wednesday or Harley Quinn, they're embracing the style of the Louvre robbers who recently made headlines. This trend is not only a great way to create a last-minute costume but also a clever way to stand out among the usual spooky creatures.

The costume of the Louvre robbers has become a hit. While Halloween usually involves dressing up as pop culture villains, this year, Dracula, Sabrina the Witch, the Joker, and Wednesday are taking a backseat. The competition this year is real, and it's not fictional. After the release of Money Heist (La Casa de Papel), people were seen in red jumpsuits and Salvador Dalí masks. Now, after the Louvre heist, the black balaclava, yellow vest, and plastic crown have become the go-to choices.

This scandal, which shook the capital and made headlines worldwide, involved four men who managed to bypass the security system of the world’s most visited museum. They stole several French crown jewels, valued at 88 million euros. The CCTV footage went viral, resembling scenes from the film Lupin, but even more outrageous.

This event captured the attention of internet users and sparked their imaginations. Overnight, the Louvre robbers became a fashion inspiration. The only currency these modern-day fake looters used? Sweets of all shapes and sizes and chocolate coins.

A Costume That Fits Any Wardrobe

While serial killer Ed Gein, the star of Monster, could have set the tone for Halloween costumes, internet users preferred black camouflage over a faux-flesh coat. Everyone offered their own interpretation, often with a touch of humor.

With the Pink Panther theme playing in the background, fashionistas are sporting glamorous heist outfits consisting of miniskirts, cropped mesh tops, and knee-high socks. Others are taking a more realistic approach, wearing oversized hoodies, cargo pants, and platform sneakers. To further enhance their burglar personas, some are adorning their fingers with gold rings, their necks with necklaces, and the rest of their bodies with high-vis vests.

If you still don't have a costume for Halloween night, you know what's coming. This disguise is criminally creative! However, if you live in an apartment building, warn your neighbors. It'll save you from having the police show up on your landing or breaking down your door.

Other Halloween Costumes That Will Be a Hit

This year, 2025, you won’t see bloodied vampires, zombies in torn clothes, or witches with pointy noses roaming the streets. There will, however, be life-size Labubus, hundreds of Wednesday Addams clones (some more faithful to the original than others), and members of the Demon Hunter cast sporting purple or bluish wigs. You’ll almost certainly also encounter a certain Donald Trump, unmistakable with his pumpkin-colored complexion. As you can see, this year, irony is mixed with fear.

The "Louvre heist," a true horror story for our dear Stéphane Bern, will influence our Halloween looks. Internet users will be ready to go trick-or-treating (completely legally, of course). The only offense they could commit is a simple case of humor.
