Vicki Belo's First MRT Ride to Catch Morissette's Concert

A New Experience for Dr. Vicki Belo
Dr. Vicki Belo, a well-known figure in the Philippines, recently took on a new challenge by riding the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) for the first time. This unique experience was part of her plan to attend Morissette Amon’s concert at the Big Dome. The event marked a significant moment for Belo, as she decided to use public transportation instead of her usual luxury car.
On Wednesday, October 29, Belo shared her journey on her Instagram page. In the video, she is seen stepping out of her car and heading towards the MRT station. Her decision to take the MRT was driven by the heavy traffic that often plagues the city. “The traffic is so bad. I’m gonna be so late. So ayan, first time,” she said, indicating that this was indeed a first for her.
Belo made sure to have her own tickets ready for the Cubao station, where Morissette’s 15th-anniversary concert was set to take place. As she boarded the train, she expressed her surprise at the situation. “So nakasakay na ako. There’s always a first time to do anything. Grabe ‘yung traffic, tignan mo, hindi gumagalaw (Look at the traffic, it’s not moving),” she remarked, highlighting the challenges of urban commuting.
During her ride, Belo encountered some lighthearted moments with the security guard on board. The guard humorously noted that the MRT was more comfortable than her luxury car, adding a touch of humor to the otherwise stressful situation.
Belo also noticed that the train wasn’t fully occupied. She later found out that she had inadvertently used the priority lane, which is designated for senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities. Despite this, she managed to reach the concert on time.
The 69-year-old doctor described her MRT ride as “worth it.” Her experience highlights the importance of adapting to different situations, even if it means stepping out of one's comfort zone. Belo’s journey serves as an inspiration to others, showing that sometimes, taking a different route can lead to unexpected experiences and valuable lessons.
Personal Journey and Public Perception
Dr. Belo, known for her work in the medical field, has also been open about her personal struggles. She previously gained attention when she addressed comments about her appearance following a surgery to remove a tumor from one of her breasts. Her openness about her health issues has helped to normalize conversations around breast cancer and body image.
By sharing her experience of taking the MRT, Belo not only showcased her willingness to try new things but also emphasized the importance of public transportation in navigating the challenges of city life. Her story resonates with many who face similar difficulties, reminding them that sometimes, the journey itself can be as rewarding as the destination.
In a world where convenience often takes precedence, Belo’s decision to embrace the MRT reflects a broader message about adaptability and resilience. It encourages others to consider alternative ways of living and to find value in experiences that may initially seem daunting.
